Houston Veterinary Bloodwork
Laboratory Testing for Your Pet
At FM 1960 Animal Hospital, no physical examination of your pet is complete without comprehensive bloodwork. As an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practice, we are fully equipped with a laboratory on the premises to test your pet’s samples and deliver results quickly and efficiently. Laboratory tests and bloodwork helps our veterinary team get a clearer picture of your pet’s overall health, seeing beyond a simple physical exam. We use their laboratory results to help us identify diseases, catch changes in your pet’s health, and ensure they are staying happy and healthy.
FM 1960 Animal Hospital offers the latest in-house diagnostic testing to our furry patients. This includes:
- Blood chemistry
- Electrolyte testing
- Heartworm testing
- Feline Leukemia and FIV testing
- Eye pressure readings
- Blood pressure
The above list includes both standard blood tests as well as other laboratory tests we can conduct on samples we take from your pet. When you bring your pet in for their routine wellness exam, we’ll often order some of these tests as part of their standard checkup. These tests help us get a comprehensive look at your pet’s health inside and out so we can customize our treatment of your pet to meet their specific needs.
Each of these tests give us a wealth of information about your pet’s condition. We can conduct additional tests with the help of our outside laboratory partner. If we see indications that further testing is necessary, your Houston veterinarian will let you know before we order these outside tests.
Detecting Disease: Laboratory Testing & Your Pet
Regular laboratory testing with your pet’s routine wellness exams can help us identify early warning signs of disease before it devolves into a serious health condition. Our team can stay on top of your pet’s health when you bring them in to see us regularly.
Bloodwork can detect signs of diseases like:
- Feline leukemia
- Intestinal parasites
- Urinary tract infections
- Lyme disease
If you’re worried about your pet’s health, or if it’s been a long time since they last came to see us, bring them in to FM 1960 Animal Hospital to get your pet back on the track to good health.
